Event Overview

As the preparatory event for the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27), the Environment & Development Forum (EDF) 2022, held under the patronage of the Government of Egypt, under the auspices of H.E. Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs and CoP27 President Designate, and in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, led by H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment and CoP27 Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy, set the stage for high-stake discussions, from 11-13 September 2022 at the InterContinental City Stars Cairo.

With 29 countries attending, the Forum convened ministries, governments, regional and international organizations, global corporations, research institutions, technology and solution providers amongst others with the vision of improving collaboration between stakeholders, identify key challenges faced regionally and optimal sustainable development strategies to overcome them, as well as develop recommendations and drive technology and innovation in environment protection.

EDF featured three days of technical and plenary sessions, an international expo, the prestigious EDF awards, and a Youth and Innovation Stage, which provided extensive opportunities to identify and implement effective solutions to some of the biggest global issues facing nations in current times.
